President Bette Hahner called the meeting to order at 1:00 pm at the Community Center on November 15, 2011. She announced that there would be no monthly newsletter, although one may be produced every three months if there are requests to do so.

TREASURER'S REPORT:
The Treasurer's Report was read, showing a balance in the checking account of $1988.27 and $ 11,717.81 in the savings account on October 31, 2011, and will be placed on file for audit.

SECRETARY'S REPORT:
The Secretary's Report is posted on the web site.

HOSPITALITY:
Bette thanked Joanne Donaghue for the delightful floral centerpiece and Martha Burian and her committee for the delicious refreshments served before the meeting. Bette reminded all that reservations for the Christmas luncheon are limited and need to be made soon.

WAYS and MEANS COMMITTEE:
A Seaside Christmas: Friday, November 25 through Saturday, December 3 from 1:00 - 4:00 at the Chatham Hook Fishermen's Association(CHFA) (except Sunday, November 27) with a Gala December from 5:00 - 7:00 pm, $15.00 admission. The workshop to make decorations with donated greens is at the Monomoy Yacht Club on November 17 and 18. Pruning for those who volunteer will be done Wednesday, November 16. A Chatham High School club has volunteered to decorate a tree as well as agreeing to staff the coat room. Co-chair Evelyn Ambriscoe asked for more volunteers for hosting duties, and bravely sang a ditty encouraging support for the event. Baskets, decorations, etc. may be dropped off at the CHFA from 10 am to 4 pm. Hors d'ouvres drop off between 3:00 and 5:00 on December 3. Raffle tickets are available.

OLD BUSINESS:
300 anniversary gift to the Town: Suggestions for this gift included 300 bulbs for planting, support for the labyrinth, support for the proposed Ryder's Cove park, support for the Theater renovation. Other comments included the need to not take away funds for the annual scholarships given to Chatham residents through the schools. Bette stressed that the CGC priorities are 1. beautification and 2. scholarship, and requested the membership to think about this gift which might be around $3000.00, $1000 for each 100 years of existence. Comments and suggestions may be passed on to any Board member.

PROGRAM:
Following the business meeting a most interesting program "Parade Float Anyone?" was presented by Shelley Cantor and Jean Rosseau of Sherborn, MA who participated in the preparation of floral designs for the 2008 Rose Bowl Parade volunteer floats via an Elder Hostel program. Much was learned about the construction of floats, floral designs, floral materials and preservation, the prize applications, and the aftermath of a parade float. The slides were beautiful and the talk well presented and appreciated. Bette asked for ideas for a CGC float this coming July when Chatham celebrates its 300 anniversary with the July 4th parade. Suggestions included use of hydrangeas (blue ones for water color), inclusion of sharks in some way. More ideas are needed.

ADJOURNMENT:
The meeting adjourned at 2:30 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,
Cynthia B. McCue, Recording Secretary
