APRIL 2010

CHATHAM GARDEN CLUB MEMBERSHIP MEEETING, APRIL 20, 2010
CHATHAM COMMUNITY CENTER, CHATHAM, MA

CALL TO ORDER
President Marty Koblish opened the meeting at 1:00 p.m. She thanked Vice President Bette Hahner, Second Vice President Nancy Dietz, and Recording Secretary Regina McDowell for covering the business of the Club in her absence. Marty noted that the Minutes from the March 16 meeting had been posted on the website and a copy was provided for members to read at today's meeting. The Minutes were approved as written and will be placed on file. The Treasurer's Report from Claire Dubis for March 2010 was read and approved, and will be placed on file for future audit.

President Koblish introduced and welcomed four members from the Nauset Garden Club attending the meeting. Attendance at this March meeting included 78 members and five guests

MYSTERY PLANT
Barbara Blanchard identified the monthly "Mystery Plant" as Oseosporum. Several members correctly identified it also. The flower will bloom in summer and after deadheading will continue to bloom in fall.

PROGRAM FOR MAY
Second Vice President Bette Hahner announced that the May program will be a tour of the gardens at Wequassett Inn. Dave Schumacher and the Hawk Design staff will meet us at the fountain on the grounds at 1:00 p.m. for a tour, followed by iced tea and cookies. Please note that this is not a lucheon meeting. President Koblish reminded the Club members to wear their Spring hats to this meeting.

PRESERVATION HOUSE TOUR
Beth Holden announced that there is a need for five or six more volunteers for the house tour that will take place in Chatham on Saturday, May 15, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.

Jack Farrow, a member of the Land Bank and Open Space Committee spoke briefly on Article 21 of the Town Meeting Warrant that would seek to rescind the Community Preservation Act.

PROGRAM
Bette Hahner introduced the speaker. Mal Condon, owner of the Nantucket Hydrangea Farm, presented a slide show and talk on various hydrangeas, including planting, care, and propagation. He also illustrated some new varieties that are now available that thrive on the Cape.

The meeting was adjourned at 2:30 p.m.

CHATHAM GARDEN CLUB MEMBERSHIP MEETING, MARCH 16 ,2010
CHATHAM COMMUNITY CENTER, CHATHAM, MA

CALL TO ORDER
Second Vice President Nancy Dietz brought the meeting to order at 1:00 p.m. and welcomed members and guests. Due to the absence of the President and the Vice President, Nancy announced that a formal business meeting would not be held. There were 52 members and 7 guests present.

Ali van der Burg reported that five houses and three public buildings will be open for the Preservation House Award Tour. The House Tour will be on May 15 and the Award Presentation will be held at the Wayside Inn on May 16. A sign up sheet was passed around for volunteer participation for this event.

Mary Ann Gray urged members who were interested in preserving the Mitchell River Bridge to attend the meeting being held at the Community Center on Thursday evening, March 18, starting at 7:00 p.m.

Nancy introduced Celeste Markey who presented her program, Meet the Tomato Lady. Celeste gave members information on nurturing tomato plants from seedlings to mature plants. She also provided catalogues for members to take home.

The meeting was adjourned at 2:00 p.m.
